Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions info

About MSCA

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions are the European Union’s reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training which support researchers from all over the world at all stages of their careers with a focus on their training, skills and career development.
The MSCA promote excellence and set standards for high-quality researcher education and training in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers.

The principles underlying the programme are: excellence, mobility, bottom-up open to the world, excellent recruitment, working conditions and inclusiveness, effective supervision and career guidance, open science and responsible research and innovation, European Green Deal and synergies.

Actions

  • Doctoral Networks: aims to implement doctoral programmes (General doctoral networks, Industrial doctoral networks, Joint doctoral networks) through international partnerships of organisations from different sectors (universities, research institutions, companies, SMEs and other non-academic organisations).
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: aims to foster excellence in research and innovation of experienced researchers (up to 8 years research experience after PhD), by acquiring new skills and developing their careers abroad, while developing their skills in non-academic sectors and working in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Staff Exchanges: aims to encourage short-term international and intersectoral exchanges of research and innovation staff through sustainable, collaborative projects in Europe and beyond between different organisations from the academic and non-academic sectors. By doing so, they enhance knowledge, skills transfer and career development perspectives, while increase organisations’ research and innovation capacities.
  • COFUND: co-finances regional, national and international programmes for researchers’ training and career development (Doctoral programme for PhD candidates and Postdoctoral Programme for experienced researchers). The COFUND action spreads MSCA’s best practices by setting high standards and excellent working conditions, and boosts training and international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility.

MSCA at IMDEA Nanociencia

Currently there are 4 MSCA postdoctoral fellows carrying out their projects at the institute:

  • Sofía de Oliveira “On-surface design of lanthanide coordinated networks featuring single atom magnetism”
  • José Ignacio Urgel “On-Surface Synthesis, Transfer and Device Fabrication of Novel Carbon-based Nanomaterials”
  • Vasileios Balos “Accessing Electron-Phonon interactions of two-dimensional Metal Organic Frameworks by Ultrabroadband Terahertz Spectroscopy based on the Spintronic Trilayer Emitter”
  • Natalia Martín Sabanés “Coupling of Optical tweezers with Tip-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for single-molecule investigation of supramolecular systems”

They will be soon followed by another 6 peers recruited under the first call of the MSCA-COFUND IDEAL fellowship programme.

The Projects Office provides support to candidates interested in participating in this career development opportunity with specific training and assistance in the design of competitive proposals. We will be opening the MSCA-PF Expressions of Interest to the Principal Investigators soon, please keep an eye out in your inbox.
